12 Countries Including the United States Compete in 2014’s First International Polo Match
The first international polo competition of the new year will begin on the 8th of January with twelve countries competing in the 2014 Fortune Heights Snow Polo World Cup in China which is to be hosted by the Tianjin Goldin Metropolitan Polo Club.
The US team is represented by Tommy Biddle, Pelon Escapite, and Delmar Walton.
Biddle is a 10-goal arena handicap, and has a 6-goal outdoor rating. He has won many tournaments throughout the years.
Escapite also has a 6-goal outdoor rating. Excapite has played and won several prestigious tournaments such as the C.V. Whitney Cup, the Ylvisaker Cup, the Outback League, and the Kentucky Horse Park Invitational.
Walton holds a 3-goal outdoor handicap and became a professional player at the age of 16. He won the USPA Gold Cup twice and U.S Open Polo Championship.
The team will be competing against Hong Kong, Australia, England, Mexico, Spain, Chile, Brazil, France, New Zealand, South Africa and Canada.
Snow polo is a modern variation of traditional field polo with a smaller playing field and a hard-packed snow terrain.
The 2014 Fortune Heights Snow Polo World Cup is authorized by the Federation of International Polo (FIP) and Chinese Equestrian Association.
